Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
Real Talk on Aging ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent podcast. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit www.realtalkonaging.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly
If you contact us through the contact form on the Site, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you submit. We use this information only to respond to you.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our analytics provider (Google Analytics 4) collects standard web-usage information, including:
- Pages you visit and the time spent on each
- How you arrived at the Site (referring URL, search terms)
- General device and browser information (type, version, language)
- Approximate geographic location (derived from IP address; we have IP anonymization enabled)
- Interactions with site content (clicks, plays, scrolls)
This information is collected only if you consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, Google Analytics is configured in "consent mode" to send only anonymous, aggregated pings — no cookies are set and no individually-identifying data is collected.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use first-party cookies set by Google Analytics for the purposes described above, and we use a small amount of localStorage to remember your cookie consent choice so we don't ask you on every visit. Additionally, when you play a YouTube video embedded on the Site, YouTube may set its own cookies — see Google's privacy policy for details.
How we use information
- To understand how visitors use the Site, so we can improve the show and the listening experience
- To respond to messages submitted through the contact form
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical issues
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising on or off the Site.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers acting on our behalf:
- Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) — for site analytics
- Formspree — for processing contact form submissions
- Firebase Hosting (Google Cloud) — for serving the Site
- YouTube — when you play an embedded video
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.
Your privacy rights
All visitors
You can decline analytics cookies at any time using the consent banner or the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of any page. Declining does not affect your ability to use the Site.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request deletion of personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (we do not sell information, and you can opt out of sharing for analytics via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our footer)
- Be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising any of these rights
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request. If your browser sends GPC, we automatically apply your opt-out preference without showing the consent banner.
Other US state residents
If you reside in a state with a comprehensive privacy law — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, or others as they take effect — you generally have similar rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
How to exercise your rights
Send a request to podcast@realtalkonaging.com with the subject "Privacy Request." Please include enough information so we can verify your identity and respond to your specific request (such as the email address you used to contact us, if applicable). We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 45 days for CCPA requests, with a possible extension).
You may also authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf. Authorized agents must provide signed permission and proof of identity.
Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. Contact form submissions are retained until we no longer need them to respond to you or for our records.
Data security
The Site is served over HTTPS, and our service providers (Google, Formspree) maintain industry-standard security practices for the data we process through them. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site for a reasonable time after they take effect.
